MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Specialists of the Belarusian company Belorusneft have started drilling the country’s deepest borehole, the company’s press service told BelTA.
The exploration well is located in Rechitsa District and is expected to be 6,680m deep.
BelTA has been told that the well is designed to assess the oil-bearing capacity of the pre-salt and Upper Proterozoic complexes within limits of the pre-Rechitsa intersalt trap. The well will also allow the examination of hydrogeological and hydrodynamic conditions of the section. The saturation of collectors with formation fluids will be studied.
According to the source, it will be the deepest well in Belarus. It is unmatched in the CIS space. There are wells as long as the Belarusian one in Russia but those are horizontal while the 1st pre-Rechitsa well will be virtually vertical - the declination angle will be 470m, the press service said.
