Festival of National Cultures to gather different nations in Rogachev

GOMEL, 28 October (BelTA) – Representatives of 16 nations are set to participate in the Gomel oblast tour of the 8th All-Belarusian Festival of National Cultures in Rogachev on 31 October, BelTA learnt from Lyudmila Yanovich, chief specialist of the Gomel oblast arts and crafts center. Partaking in the forum will be Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Bulgarians, Israelites, Moldavians, Germans, Poles, Russians, Tatars, Uzbeks, Ukrainians, Gypsies, the specialist noted. Georgia and Tajikistan will take part in the festival for the first time. 13 ensembles, 28 soloists, eight duets and two trios will perform during the festival. Over 200 representatives of the 17 regions of the Gomel oblast will take part in the forum as well. Arts and crafts expositions will include Ukrainian embroidery, Vologda laces, etc. The jury of the festival will be led by Art Director of the G. Tsitovich National Academic Chorus of Belarus, State Prize holder, People’s Artist of Belarus Professor Mikhail Drinevsky. At present more than 120 nationalities live in the Gomel oblast. The ethnic pattern is as following: over 84% - Belarusians, 11% - Russians, more than 3% - Ukrainians, 0.4% - Israelites, 0.2% - Poles and 0.9% - nationals of other countries.
