Gomel, Brest to welcome motor rally timed to 65th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation
GOMEL, 26 June (BelTA) – Participants of the motor rally Gomel-Brest timed to the 65th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders will bring a capsule with the ground taken from 100 places of the former battles to the memorial compound Brest Hero Fortress.
The motor rally initiated by the Gomel transport organizations will be held from June 29 to July 3. Taking part in the rally will be workers of the Gomel-based vehicle fleets, young activists and six veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The 1500km rally will span across Loev, Derazhichi, Rechitsa and Svetlogorsk – the places of the Gomel oblast where the fierce battles took place. The participants of the rally will take part in various meetings with locals, war veterans, lay wreathes on monuments to soldiers-liberators. In the village of Novoselki (Petrikov region) they will take part in the solemn ceremony of opening of the commemorative plaque on the mass grave where the soldiers and locals killed during the war were buried.
On July 3, at their arrival in Gomel, the participants of the motor rally will lay a wreath of transport workers of the Brest oblast on the Hill of Glory.
