Gomel completes preparation for international festival “Slavonic Brotherhood-2006”
The international festival “Slavonic Brotherhood-2006” will take place June 25 at the Friendship Monument on the crossing of the borders of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
As BelTA has been told in the ideology department of the oblast executive committee, this year thousands of young people and residents of the frontier regions of the three countries will take part in the festival. Heads of the administrations of Gomel, Chernigov and Bryansk oblasts and a representative delegation of the south-western district of Moscow are expected to arrive to attend the festival.
According to first deputy chief of the oblast culture department Olga Antonenko, for many years the festival “Slavonic Brotherhood” has been an eloquent testament of close friendly ties between the three brotherly nations. This year the festival is organized by Belarus. The organizers have prepared a range of spectacular events. The program also envisages a big concertwhich is going to become a highlight among the events devoted to the Year of Mother. A joint exposition of consumer goods will stay open during the festival.
Taking part in the festival will be Gomel oblast drama theater, folk and dance companies of Ukraine, Russia, the chamber choir of the Gomel oblast philharmonic society. Ksenia Sitnik, Taisia Povaliy and Nadezhda Kadysheva are expected to perform at the festival. The international festival “Slavonic Brotherhood-2006” will conclude with a gala concert “Young Talents of Belarus”.
