Gomel holds first autumn agricultural fair

Around 218 tons of potato and vegetables were sold at the first autumn fair in Gomel, Leonid Apanasjuk, the chairman of the agriculture and food committee of the Gomel oblast executive committee, told BelTA. Some 77 trucks delivered agricultural produce to the main square of the town from different regions of the oblast. On the whole, Gomel residents bought 175 tons of potato and 43 tons of vegetables: beet, carrot, onion, garlic, cabbage. People buy agricultural produce to keep it for the winter season. Thus, by the end of the day practically all products offered by agricultural companies and businessmen were sold out. This year the oblast hopes to get a good harvest of vegetables to satisfy the demand in full, Leonid Apanasjuk is sure. The Gomel oblast executive committee decided to hold such fairs on Saturdays by the end of October. Moreover, the local authorities chose the sites in all districts of Gomel for daily fairs. According to the schedule, agricultural fairs will be held by the end of October in all regional centers of Gomel oblast.
