Gomel honored the best teachers of the oblast. The event “Your Name is Teacher” is part of the regional project which aims to enhance the teacher’s role in the society and to make teaching more prestigious.
Sixteen best teachers of the oblast were presented with diplomas of honor and gifts from the Gomel oblast executive committee. A number of workers of the education ministry were awarded the letters of official thanks from the oblast executive committee and diplomas of the education ministry. During the ceremony governor of Gomel oblast Alexander Yakobson noted, “The role of teachers is great and responsible. Their task is very important – to bring up and educate children. Moreover, teachers are involved in ideological education of the younger generation, render social aid to many families”. The chairman of the oblast executive committee expressed special gratitude to teachers – mothers with many children.
Within the framework of the events devoted to the Day of Teacher, contests “The Best Teacher of the Region” have been held for the first time in the oblast, head of the education department of the Gomel oblast executive committee Maria Bondar has stated in an interview with BelTA. The result of the contests is a photo exhibition of the best teachers of the oblast which was displayed in the Gomel public-cultural center.
There are around 33 thousand teachers in Gomel oblast, 36 of them are Honored Teachers of the Republic of Belarus.
