Gomel Medical University to train pediatrists by 2008
Gomel State Medical University will start to train pediatrists by 2008. The university has been granted the right to set up a pediatric department, BelTA learnt from rector of the university Anatoly Lyzikov.
According to him, there is a shortage of pediatrists in the Gomel oblast. Today, the Gomel oblast is in need of 200 professionals.
Anatoly Lyzikov noted that the Gomel university has been permitted to open the pediatric department designed for 30 students. According to the rector, it will allow the region to settle the problem of the shortage of pediatrists in the near future.
According to Anatoly Lyzikov, Gomel State Medical University plans to open a department for retraining and enhancing of qualifications as well that will help to improve the quality of medical service in the region.
