Gomel oblast agricultural companies start harvesting campaign
Agricultural companies of Gomel oblast started harvesting campaign to meet the state order on grain. The JSC Gomelkhleboprodukt has already received first 600 tons.
As chief of the plant cultivation department of the Gomel oblast committee for agriculture and foodstuffs Mikhail Kolesnikov told BelTA, this year’s target is to cultivate 130,000 tons of grain. The works should be done by September 15.
He noted that so far 8 per cent has been harvested and 62,500 tons of grain have been threshed. The crop capacity is 3 times lower than the last year - 24,7 centners per hectare. Mikhail Kolesnikov explains low harvesting rates, which so far do not exceed 2 per cent a day, by uneven ripening of grain and summer heat. He believes that next week the situation will stabilize and companies will boost harvesting.
