Gomel oblast harvests 30% of areas under grain crops
As of the morning July 28 the agricultural companies of the Gomel oblast harvested 100,800 hectares under grain crops, which makes up 30% of the plan, BelTA learnt from Valentin Babok, the chief of the agriculture and food committee of the oblast executive committee.
Some 308,000 tones of grain have been threshed; the yield averages 30.6 centners per hectare, or 7.6 centners more than last year.
The leader of the oblastwide harvest campaign is the Rechitsa region that has harvested 44% of the areas with the yield averaging 43.4 centners per hectare.
Once the agricultural producers crop the lodged crops, the harvest campaign pace will pick up. By the mid next week the companies are set to harvest daily some 7% of the total areas.
