Gomel oblast is set to open daytime centers for disabled children in all regions

Gomel oblast is set to open daytime centers for disabled children in the social service establishments in all regions of the oblast. There are more than 4,5 thousand disabled children in the oblast, more than 800 of them reside in the oblast center, chairman of the committee for labour and social security of the Gomel oblast executive committee Viktor Sokorev has told a press conference today. According to him, six daytime care centers have been created in the oblast with assistance of foreign charity organizations. There is a round-the-clock center at the social service establishment in Gomel. Doctors, social workers provide help to children and their parents. As Viktor Sokorev noted the centers are conceived to help physically disadvantaged children rehabilitate and adapt to the surrounding conditions. Moreover, many children acquire some professional skills. Thus, 25 children in Zhlobin have taken gardener courses. Rechitsa is set to create working places for young people with limited capabilities. Viktor Sokorev believes it is very important that disabled kids living in rural areas should have the opportunities to receive rehabilitation help, get ready for adult life and develop artistic talents.
