The sports authority of Gomel oblast named the best coaches of 2006.
Traditionally, in line with the results of the sports competitions held during a year, a special commission determines the most accomplished coaches of the season, BelTA has been informed in the physical culture, sport and tourism department of the Gomel oblast executive committee. Last year, 12 coaches representing different kinds of sport headed this list.
Among the present nominees is the head coach of the national canoe-paddling team Vladimir Shantarovich from Mozyr (his alumnus Roman Petrushenko was named the best sportsmen of Gomel oblast of 2006).
As for other nominees, these are Igor Telepun (he coached canoe-paddling world champion among the youth Stanislav Scherbachenya), Viktor Vnuchkin, the judo coach of the Gomel sports school, Igor Samsonov, the weightlifting head coach of the children-youth sports school of Olympic reserve, Nikolai Shkarubo, the gymnastics chief national coach, and others.
In the near future, the board of the physical culture, sport and tourism department of the Gomel oblast executive committee will arrange a celebration in honor of the best sportsmen and their coaches of 2006.
