Gomel oblast presents more than 10 excursion programmes timed to Great Patriotic War

MINSK, May 13 (BelTA) – More than 10 excursion programmes timed to the Great Patriotic War have been developed in the Gomel oblast, BelTA learnt from Romualda Milashevskaya, director of Gomelobltourist Company. Every excursion programme is dedicated to one or another significant event of the Great Patriotic War. One of the trip “Hero’s Bank” runs via the settlement of Loev. It tells about the courage of the Soviet soldiers who conducted a forced crossing of the Dnepr River in October 1943. The “Zhlobin Roads” excursion programme tells tourists about the village of Krasny Bereg. There a memorial to the children killed during the war has been erected. During Second World War II, Krasny Bereg was the place where the children aged 8-14 were transported from the Zhlobin, Rogachev, Strashin, Dobrush and other regions of Belarus to be sent to Germany. All in all, 1990 children were sent to Nazi Germany from that Belarusian village. One more programme is dedicated to the Ozarichi concentration camp. The excursion programmes dedicated to Belarusian partisans, the Gomel architecture and others are popular among the tourists as well. According to Romualda Milashevskaya, the school children and university students are the main participants of these excursion programmes. The development of the new excursion programmes is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders and the Year of the Native Land. The Belarusian Ministry of Sport and Tourism jointly with the oblast executive committees intend to receive military-patriotic trains from the Russian regions and the CIS member countries, organize excursion programmes dedicated to the partisan movement in Belarus.
