The first to open the harvesting campaign was the Khoiniki region. Having conducted the traditional folk ceremony "Zazhinki" the agricultural companies Sudkovo and Arevichi gave a start to the campaign. This is the beginning of the mass harvesting campaign of spring crops and leguminous plants, chairman of the Khoiniki regional executive committee Nikolai Sadchenko told BelTA.
According to him, the region is set to harvest about 11 thousand hectares, or 7 per cent more than last year. Given hot weather, the priority will be given to faded fields.
Nikolai Sadchenko noted the readiness of the agricultural producers for the harvesting campaign. Thus, the fleet of vehicles has been renovated. Every company has purchased one combine harvester and created the stocks of fuels.
All in all, this year Gomel oblast will crop 368,1 thousand hectares under crops, or 5 per cent more as against last year.
