Gomel oblast to host international festival “Source of Slavic Friendship” in 2009
In 2009 the international festival “Source of Slavic Friendship” will be held in the Gomel oblast, BelTA learned from the Gomel oblast palace of children’s art “Yunost”.
This year the festival of students from the Gomel oblast (Belarus), Bryansk (Russia) and Chernigov regions (Ukraine) was held from May 30 to June 1 in the Bryansk region and attended more than 150 participants from the three countries.
The three-day festival featured numerous concerts of children’s artistic groups from the frontier regions. The Gomel oblast was represented by group Borneo, Diana Gromova, the winner of the national children’s song contest “Song for Eurovision”, choreographic studio Milata, folklore company Gastinets, etc. The children spent some days in the health centre Beryozka near to Bryansk, visited Tutchev museum and saw other sights of the Bryansk region. The programme of the festival also included a roundtable on youth cooperation.
The international festival “Source of Slavic Friendship” was instituted in 1994 for students from the three Slavonic countries. This year the festival organizer was the Bryansk region (Russia).
