Gomel Oblast to present three projects at Belarus Investment Forum

GOMEL, 14 November (BelTA) – Gomel Oblast will present three projects at the exhibition that will take place as part of the 7th Belarus Investment Forum on 15-16 November, representatives of the Economy Committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA. The free economic zone Gomel-Raton is going to present a project to start the production of vacuum-powered blood sampling systems of the vacutainer variety. The project is estimated to return investments within two years. It offers the shortest repayment time among the 23 proposals that will be presented before potential investors. Two projects of importance for Gomel Oblast will be presented by the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. One envisages the construction of a pig breeding complex in Gomel District with the capacity of 54,000 head. The other one envisages the turn-key construction of a closed-cycle pig breeding complex in Vetka District with the capacity of 24,000 head. Land plots have been reserved for the facilities. The necessary information for investors has been prepared. The three projects are estimated to cost $55 million. The development of the pork industry is one of the most important avenues of the investment policy in Gomel Oblast’s agribusiness. Several days ago a rebuilt pig breeding complex with the capacity of 13,000 head was re-opened in Chechersk District. A similar facility will be commissioned in Yelsk District by the end of the year. Two more are being built in Lelchitsy District and Narovlya District. Those are scheduled for commissioning in 2013. All the projects to be on display at the exhibition during the 7th Belarus Investment Forum will be divided into innovation economy (pharmaceutics, new materials, alternative power engineering), agriculture, food industry, and mechanical engineering. The total cost of the projects is estimated at $1 billion.
