Gomel oblast’s drought-stricken agricultural companies need state support

Drought-stricken agricultural companies of the Gomel oblast need state support, Gomel oblast governor Alexander Yakobson told BelTA. Today agricultural company Uritskoye hosted an out session of the Gomel oblast executive committee. The session tabled the readiness of the oblast agriculture for the harvesting campaign. According to the latest data, drought has killed crops on 23,500 hectares in the Gomel oblast and damaged crops on 84,300 hectares. The dead crops constitute a small share of the total area, under 10%. However, it will certainly affect the gross harvest yield. The losses are predicted to make 200,000 tonnes. In the view of the forecast the administration of the Gomel oblast plans to address the government to request support for the agricultural companies most damaged by the drought. According to Alexander Yakobson, specialists of the Agriculture and Food Ministry have already assessed the situation in the drought-stricken agricultural companies. Soon the specialists will present a final conclusion.
