Gomel photo exhibition to display Indian landmarks

GOMEL, 7 December (BelTA) – A photo exhibition titled as India. Across the Himalayas on a Bus Roof will open at the Palace of Rumyantsevs-Paskeviches in Gomel on 8 December, BelTA has learnt. The exhibition will be presented by Yuri Biryukov, a photographer, traveler, expert of the Indian culture and his friends Katerina Ovsyanik, Marina Samonova, Anton Stepanov and Murat Tureshov. The pictures to be displayed at the exhibition have been made by the friends during their recent trip to India. The journey lasted 40 days. Most of the journey was done on the roof of a bus. During this trip, the friends visited Amritsar, the holy place of the Sikhs, Zanskar Valley surrounded by the Himalayas, and the Valley of Kashmir with its magic carpets, finest silk and houses on the water. They also went to see the Roerichs’ family home in the Valley of Kullu and met with the Dalai Lama. The event has been organized with the support of the Indian Embassy in Belarus, Fotodom company and the cultural institution “Palace of Rumyantsevs-Paskeviches”. The exhibition is held as part the project "Gomel is Belarus and CIS’ Capital of Culture 2011”.
