Gomel ranks best oblast center in organization of sports events and health-improving activities
The city of Gomel took the first prize of the republican contest for best organization of physical and health-improving activities for the general public in 2005, chief of the department for physical culture, sports and tourism of the Gomel town executive committee Igor Poluyan informed.
According to the interlocutor, last year more than 98,000 people took part in local sports events during the days of health.
More than Br734 million were allocated for various events to promote sports and physical culture in the oblast center.
According to Igor Poluyan, Gomel oblast ranked second in the same nomination among the Belarusian oblasts after Mogilev oblast.
