Gomel region to spend Br100 billion on Pure Water programme
Today Gomel regional council of people’s deputies approved a regional programme Pure Water for 2006-2010. The programme will centre efforts on developing pure water supply systems and water disposal system, sewage treatment, and improving the management in the water supply and water disposal services field.
The programme will be financed by the national and local budgets as well as proprietary money of companies. Some Br100 billion will be spent on the programme implementation, including Br30 billion to be allocated by the regional budget.
The programme provides for building and reconstructing 3 water supply points in district towns of the region, 5 water deferrization stations, 6 purification facilities, 170 km of water supply pipelines and 280 artesian wells in 2006-2010.
The measures will allow providing centralised water supply and water disposal to 81.6 per cent of the population, including 50 per cent of the region’s rural residents.
