On October 10-14 the Family Health Week will be held in Gomel oblast with a view to raising the public awareness about the demographic problem and enhancing the status of a healthy family.
The Family Health Week’s motto will be “Be close to me”, BelTA learnt in the health department of the Gomel oblast center of hygiene, epidemiology and healthcare. This year close attention will be paid to men’s health as foundation of a healthy family and nation. According to the statistics, the average men’s lifespan is 62.5 years, which is 12 years shorter than that of women. The main reasons of men’s early mortality are bad habits and disregard of their own health. All this has a negative impact on the country’s demographic situation.
During the campaign round-table discussions will be held with participation of medical staff, teachers, representatives of the Orthodox Church. Hotlines will be operating as well.
