GOMEL, 10 April (BelTA) – The international ice hockey tournament to commemorate former Director General of Gomeltransneft Druzhba Company Alexei Kostyuchenko will take place in Gomel on 16-19 April, BelTA learnt from the Gomel City Hall.
Partaking in the competitions will be junior teams from Moscow, Voronezh, Bryansk, Kharkov, Zhlobin and Gomel (14-year-olds).
These competitions, in their seventh year this time, are one of the most interesting and representative junior ice hockey tournaments in Belarus.
Alexei Kostyuchenko made a huge contribution to the revival of ice hockey in Gomel. HC Gomel was founded in 2000 by the Gomel City Hall and Gomeltransneft Druzhba as a general sponsor. Director of the company Alexei kostyuchenko was elected Chairman of the Board of HC Gomel. He held this post until mid 2008, the day of his tragic death, contributing his outstanding organizing skills into the development of the team that is by right viewed as one of the best in the country.
