Gomel to host international figure skating tournament “Golden Lynx-2006”
On October 13-15, Gomel will host the international figure skating tournament “Golden Lynx-2006”. The event will be held in the Ice Palace of the city.
As BelTA learnt in the organizing committee, the first time the tournament was held in Gomel in 2005. This year the status and the quantity of its participants increased considerably. The tournament will be held within the framework of ISU (International Skating Union), according to the rules of Grand Prix stages.
Attending the competition will be over 200 sportsmen from twelve countries – Austria, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Mexico and some CIS member states. Moreover, such world junior champions as the Russian pair of Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitriy Soloviev as well as young famous figure skaters Sergey Davydov, Evgeniy Fursov and several Grand Prix winners are expected to take part in the tournament.
The program of the competition includes single skating (men and women) and ice dance. Within the framework of the event, the Gomel synchronized skating women’s team “Gloria” will compete with the Russian team “Raduga” from the Russian city of Perm.
The representation of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee in Gomel oblast and Gomel youth sports school #5 are the organizers of the competition.
