Gomelavia readying for China-Europe programme flights

National unitary enterprise Gomelavia Airport is getting accreditation for performing flights in line with the China-Europe programme. The enterprise’s director general Sergei Tabatadze told BelTA, the enterprise had forwarded the necessary package of documents to the Chinese aviation authority. According to the source, to get a permission to transport cargo using its own aircraft the enterprise will have to boost export operations. The source specified, foreign customers agreed to sign long-term contracts on cargo delivery from China to Europe and contrariwise. Sergei Tabatadze added, the effort is the key point of the enterprise’s programme aimed to change its business pattern from purely passenger transportation to passenger and cargo transportation by air. The enterprise has already received an aircraft user certificate for IL-76 aircraft. Besides, this year the enterprise has been accredited by the United Nations Organisation to transport UN’s all humanitarian cargoes. In Q1 2006 the volume of export services rendered by Gomelavia Airport amounted to USD7 million. The profitability exceeded 7 per cent.
