Gomel’s secondary school #44 wins regional energy saving contest

Gomel’s secondary school #44 presented the best energy saving project at the regional contest among educational establishments. The best education project is titled as “Kopeika rubl berezhet” (penny and penny laid up will be many), deputy head of the regional rational energy use supervision agency Irina Omelyanovich told BelTA. She said, junior students of the school and their parents are taking part in the project. Every month the children take account of the electricity consumed by their families and take efforts to decrease the consumption. The winning school got Br25 million as the contest award. According to Irina Omelyanovich, it was the second time the contest was held in the region. It was organised by the regional rational energy use supervision agency and the education department of Gomel region administration. Kindergartens, colleges, vocational schools take part in the contest. This year over 40 projects were presented for the contest. Educational establishments and their students demonstrated their ideas of the ways to promote energy saving among children and youth as well as ideas how energy can be saved. Such contests are meant to promote energy saving knowledge on a wide scale and therefore will be actively supported in the future, noted Irina Omelyanovich.
