In 2006 export of Gomel oblast increases by 18.1%

In 2006, the foreign trade volume of Gomel oblast made up $5,65 billion, or 11.9% up as against 2005. The exports increased by 18.1% to hold a record - $4,06 billion. At the same time, the imports was reduced by 1.3% to make up $1,59 billion, BelTA has been informed in the foreign economic department of the Gomel oblast executive committee. According to specialists, the foreign trade surplus of the region arrived at $2,47 billion. In 2006, Gomel oblast significantly increased foreign trade operations with Ukraine (45.9% up). Thus, the exports of Gomel oblast to that country made up $397 million, or 52.8% up as against 2005. The imports increased by 29.3% to make up $103,6 million. The exports to Russia upped by 22% to make up $831 million. The supplies to other countries amounted to $3,23 billion, or 17% up as against of 2005. In 2006 the main export articles of Gomel oblast were products of petrochemical and chemical industry, ferrous metals and articles made of them, foodstuffs, equipment and various mechanical devices. Gomel oblast carried out export-import operations with 100 countries worldwide.
