In January-July trade between Gomel and Moscow oblast up by 23 per cent

In January-July 2006 the foreign trade between Gomel and Moscow oblasts amounted to USD 95,7 million, up by 23 per cent from the same period last year. In the period under review exports of Belarusian goods surged by 25.4 per cent, imports – by 18.1 per cent, BelTA has been told in the foreign economic links department of the oblast executive committee. Gomel oblast exports ferrous metals, electrical machines, glass, paper, cardboard, plastic. Exports of foodstuffs, first of all, meat and dairy products totaled USD 10 million. Imports from Moscow oblast are mainly wire, pesticides, pumps, refractory cement, coal char, ferrous metal waste and scrap. In recent years Moscow oblast has been among major trading partners of Gomel oblast among Russia’s regions. Thus, the region accounts for 15.4 per cent of exports and 4.8 per cent of imports. In terms of exports Moscow oblast is ranked third following Moscow and St. Petersburg, imports – after Moscow and Tiumen oblast.
