In January-May this year meat and milking companies of Gomel oblast increase exports by 31 per cent
In January-May this year the meat and milking companies of Gomel oblast increased exports by 31 per cent compared with the corresponding period of 2005 to USD 32,6 million, BelTA was informed in the department of foodstuffs and processing industry of the Gomel oblast executive committee.
For the five months of the current year Gomel oblast exported dairy goods worth of USD 27,2 million or 25 per cent more as against the same period of 2005. Exports of semi-prepared foods and integrated products grew by 80 per cent to USD 5,3 million. Only the join stock company Kalinkovichi meat-packing plant increased its export supplies almost 2,2 times.
Gomel oblast mainly exports to the foreign market hard pressed cheeses, butter, tinned and dried milk and sausages.
At present the companies of the region are holding intensive talks on expanding supplies to certain regions of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Near-Eastern countries.
