In near future BMZ intends to launch plate rolling facility

In the near future Belarusian Steel works /BMZ trademark/ intends to launch a plate rolling facility. The project will cost $1.5 billion, Industry Minister of Belarus Anatoly Rusetsky told reporters on January 16. "The Korean companies are showing interest in the project. Today we are discussing it," the minister underlined. According to Anatoly Rusetsky, at present the Government is discussing many projects with the participation of foreign investors including the ones in the Belarusian mechanical engineering sector and radioelectronics. Projects aimed at producing LCD TV-screens and light diodes may be carried out soon. At present the Industry Ministry of Belarus is discussing the possibilities of launching the LCD panel assembly facilities at the production scientific association Integral and Horizont Co. the Belarusian companies will purchase high-tech units from their foreign partners and use Belarus-made component parts for the production. “The light diode production may be launched in Belarus as well. We are working on the project,” Anatoly Rusetsky underlined. He expressed confidence that Iranian Group Khodro will continue carrying out a project aimed at launching the car assembly facility in Belarus. In November 2007 Khodro purchased 40% of shares of Yunison Co. “We will work hard on assembling cars from the Iranian sets of car component parts. In the near future the cars will be certified in line with the Belarusian standard STB-1. Yunison Co. will assemble and paint vehicle bodies, said the minister.
