International expedition Pripyat 2008 is timed to history of Pinsk and Dnepr Military Fleet
The international research expedition Pripyat 2008 is being held in the Gomel oblast now. It will be running through the end of the week.
As BelTA learnt from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, the main goal of the expedition is the further research of the military way of the Pinsk Military Fleet which heroically fought in Belarus in 1941 and the Dnepr Fleet which liberated Belarus in 1944. Taking part in the expedition are local researchers and representatives of Russia and Ukraine.
Within a week, the expedition will cover fleets’ ways in the Petrikov, Mozyr and Rechitsa regions of the Gomel oblast. Specialists also intend to inspect the technical condition of the unique ship of that time - motor-ship “Yaselda”.
During the expedition, its participants will take part in the opening of the memorable Cross dedicated to the ship “Vinnitsa” of the Berezina detachment of the Pinsk Fleet. They will also conduct a number of sessions with local veterans.
