Iran to finance cement factory construction in Gomel Oblast

MINSK REGION, 6 May (BelTA) – Iran will invest in the construction of a new cement factory in the Gomel Oblast, Minister of Industry and Mines of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabyan told reporters on 6 May, BelTA has learnt. “We plan to jointly pursue this project; the construction of the cement factory will be solemnly launched in the Gomel Oblast,” the minister said. Iran implements other promising projects in Belarus. For example, a cutting-edge line producing copper wire rod will be started in Rechitsa on 7 May. The next stage of the project envisages the manufacture of aluminum wire rod. Other projects are being considered, as well. Ali Akbar Mehrabyan added that the strong political platform the two countries have built underpins the success of the bilateral cooperation. “We have friendly relations, we are open for the further partnership,” he said. On 6 May, Ali Akbar Mehrabyan visited the Unison company where he learnt about the enterprise and discussed further prospects of making cars at the company. Unison is Belarus’ only car producer. At present, the company focuses on the production of Samand cars from Iranian components. Samand is made together with the Iran Khodro company, the biggest car producer in Iran. Unison also makes special-purpose vehicles - fixed route taxi-buses and medical equipment.
