Mozyr Oil Refinery to fully switch to AI-95 petrol in 2015

MOZYR, 20 August (BelTA) – In 2015 Mozyr Oil Refinery intends to fully switch to manufacturing AI-95 petrol (Euro-5), which is compliant with EN228:2009 standard and contains less than 10ppm of sulfur, BelTA learned from the company’s Chief Production Engineer Alexander Shorets.

The project designed to rack up the output of high-octane petrol is the main branch of the company’s program for comprehensive modernization. With this in mind in the last few years the company commissioned a plant for hydrodesulfurizing catalytically cracked gasoline, a facility to make hydrogen through isomerization, and a plant for the vacuum distillation of fuel oil. The latter turned out the first batch of merchandise in August 2013.

The full transition to manufacturing AI-95 petrol was accomplished by commissioning a combination plant that makes high-octane components of automobile petrol. The foundation for the plant has been prepared and some of the equipment has been purchased. “The company has the capability to make AI-98 petrol. Whether there will be demand for the product is the question,” noted Alexander Shorets.

At present OAO Mozyr Oil Refinery makes only Euro-5 diesel fuel. In Q1 2013 the company stopped manufacturing AI-80 petrol and now makes AI-92 and AI-95 petrol. “The company is close to making the entire product range compliant with Euro-5 standards. At the same time the equipment commissioned as part of the modernization has some spare capacity. In the future it can be used to make fuel compliant with Euro-6 and even Euro-7 if necessary,” said the company’s Chief Production Engineer.

Mozyr Oil Refinery was founded in 1975 and re-incorporated into a public joint-stock company in 1994. The government share in the company’s authorized fund stands at 42.76%, that of NGK Slavneft 42.58%, Mozyr Oil Refinery Plus 12.25%, natural persons 2.41%. The company specializes in processing oil, manufacturing and selling oil products. Certified products account for about 95% of the total output.
