Mozyr puts in operation first tobogganing attraction in Belarus

A solemn opening of the second stage of the Mozyr ski compound was held today which featured putting in operation the first in Belarus bobsled attraction. A 450-meter chute can be used all year round. The equipment was bought in Germany. After it had been installed, the chute underwent safety testing. It is noteworthy that this is the first attraction on the territory of the skiing compound which also includes a ski track, elevator, ski rent facilities, ice-hockey rink, tennis courts, etc. In 2007 the development of the compound will be continued to make a big attraction center. According to the information given to BelTA by chair of the Mozyr town executive committee Valentin Borisenko, a great deal of work had been done to set up proper leisure infrastructure with a health track, cafe, pavilions and kiosks included. The ceremony was attended by chairman of the Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Konoplev, chairman of the Gomel oblast executive committee Alexander Yakobson, representatives of the Mozyr administration and delegations of Mozyr twin-towns. A reminder, the opening of the leisure center was timed for Day of Mozyr celebrated on September 16-17.
