Mozyrpivo starts producing Belarusian mead

Open joint-stock company Mozyrpivo has become the first domestic producer of meads or honey wines, head of the company’s manufacturing lab Lyudmila Kuzmenko told BelTA. In her words, the company spent half a year reviving the unique recipe of the ancient beverage. It is based on natural ingredients — honey, water, hop, kvass wort concentrate, sugar and citric acid. The beverage tastes exactly like the one our ancestors used to drink. It is a thick viscous liquid, which produces much foam when bottled, has the sweet taste with the aroma of honey and flowers. The alcohol content makes 7%. The mead will be available in 30-litre and 50-litre kegs as well as 0.2-2-litre PET bottles. The company plans to turn out 1,500 decaliters of the beverage monthly. Lyudmila Kuzmenko noted, the first batch of the product will be shipped to Gomel oblast stores next week. After assessing the demand, the company has plans to ship the product to other parts of the country. The Mozyr brewery was founded in 1885. In 2002 it was converted into open joint-stock company Mozyrpivo. The company specialises in low-alcohol, non-alcoholic carbonated drinks. Over the last two years the company offered over 25 new titles.
