New wagon building plant to open in Belarus

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – New wagon building plant will be set up in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways. Gomel Wagon Repair Plant named after Kalinin and Ukraine’s Kryukov Wagon Building Plant are the founders of the new enterprise Gomel Wagon Building Plant. The joint venture will be set up at Gomel Wagon Repair Plant by 1 December 2011. In line with the agreement, Kryukov Wagon Building Plant will invest $1.46 million in the equity capital of the new company. Initially the Ukrainian plant will own 15% of the capital, the Belarusian Railways will be the owner of 85%. The new joint enterprise will manufacture all types of passenger wagons. The Ukrainian plant will provide cabs and creepers. Gomel plant will deal with the assembly and the interior of the wagons. There are also plans to produce some spare parts in Belarus. Gomel Wagon Building Plant will satisfy the demand of the Belarusian Railways for passenger wagons. In line with the National Program of Railway Transport Development for 2011-2015, Belarus will buy 182 passenger wagons within five years. Moreover, the enterprise will export its products to the CIS and Baltic countries.
