Opening of monument to legendary clown Karandash to be attended by his relatives
Tomorrow Gomel will inaugurate a monument to legendary clown Karandash and his dog Klyaksa. On the eve of the opening of the monument the Gomel town administration sent invitations to daughters of People’s Artist of the former USSR Mikhail Rumyantsev, who now live in Moscow.
According to the information given to BelTA in the department of town planning and architecture of the Gomel town executive committee, granddaughter of the famous artist Ovena Rumyantseva is expected to show up as well as director general of the Russian circus company Alexander Kalmykov. One of the daughters Natalya Rumyantseva is also likely to come.
A reminder, the monument to Karandash and his companion Klyaksa will be unveiled on June 1 close to the Gomel state circus. The bronze solid sculpture weights 325kg. It is 165 centimeters high, the size of Karandash when he had his bowler on.
