Panevezys county businesses develop contacts with Gomel region
Representatives of business circles of Lithuania’s Panevezys county develop contacts with Gomel region. The Lithuanian delegation led by county administration head Gema Umbrasiene arrived in Gomel region on December 13. The delegation includes representatives of the chamber of commerce and industry and agricultural companies.
Today Gomel region executive committee hosted a reception of the Lithuanian delegation. During the event the sides noted that the progress of co-operation of the two regions could develop more intensively. Growing ties between businessmen contribute to the rapprochement of economies of the two regions. Lithuanian businessmen took part in Gomel investment forum several times. Besides, Panevezys-based agricultural machinery producer IVABALTE has been co-operating with Gomel farmers for two years already.
Panevezys county administration head Gema Umbrasiene told BelTA, “We are glad our co-operation stems from the economy, we have something to teach to each other”. The Lithuanians are interested in studying the positive waste recycling experience of Gomel specialists. In turn, Gomel is interested in Lithuanian experience of setting up and running biogas plants.
Gomel region governor Alexander Yakobson expressed confidence, the further development of the ties between the two regions will go on not only in the economic field, but culture and sport as well.
Today the Lithuanian delegation will visit the national radiation medicine and human ecology centre, Gomselmash OJSC, and the Ice Palace.
The annual trade turnover of Gomel region with Lithuania makes $100 million.
