GOMEL, 10 October (BelTA) – A photo exhibition "Humanity in Times of War", which will feature 42 unique photographs from the archives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, opened in Gomel on 7 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
The exhibits were selected from the photo album "Humanity in Times of War - Photos from the Front". They cover the period from 1860 till present days. The exhibition illustrates such events as the First and Second World Wars, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the civilian confrontations in Spain, Ethiopia, El Salvador, the events in Iraq, and many others.
In times of crises the camera has captured the manifestations of personal courage and human dignity, struggle and hope amid pain and suffering. The archives of the International Committee of the Red Cross have more than 100,000 photographs taken over the last 150 years.
The exposition organized by the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society will open in the exhibition hall of the Gavriil Vashchenko art gallery on 7 October. The exhibition will stay open until 27 October.
