Russian investors eager to produce humates in Gomel Oblast

GOMEL, 25 May (BelTA) – The Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and Russia’s company Humate have signed a letter of intent to launch the production of humates in Gomel Oblast, BelTA learned from the press service of the agriculture and food committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. Humates are salts of humic acids. Water-soluble sodium and potash humates stimulate plant and animal growth, biochemical processes in plants, activate photosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism. These additives also boost germination capacity and survival rate of plants. The parties discussed cooperation at the recent Gomel Economic Forum. The forum also resulted in signing relevant documents with the Belarusian company Lelagroenegia to launch the production of plant oil. According to the press service, Gomel Oblast agricultural companies displayed 20 investment projects at the forum, namely the construction of a hog breeding complex, the production of cheese at Kalinkovichi dairy plant, the production of sapropel in Petrikov Distruct, a joint venture to produce alcohol products at Gomel winery. Some of the projects were previously discussed with potential investors. Gomel Oblast agricultural companies raised $134 million in investment in 2010.
