Special jubilee diploma instituted to 70th anniversary of Gomel oblast
A special jubilee diploma was instituted to the 70th anniversary of the Gomel oblast, chairman of the oblast council of deputies Valery Selitsky told a press conference in Gomel on January 8.
The solemn award of the jubilee diplomas will be held on January 18 during celebrations of the Gomel oblast anniversary.
On the same day the name of the honorary citizen of the Gomel oblast will be made public. All the regions will host festive events.
BelTA note: the official date of foundation of the Gomel oblast is January 15, 1938 when the Supreme Council of the USSR passed a resolution “On amendments and addenda to the Constitution of the USSR and introduction of oblast administrative division in the BSSR”. In line with the resolution two oblasts – Gomel and Polesye - were founded. In 1954 they were united.
