Status of Honorary Citizens of Gomel oblast to be conferred on two veterans
The status of first Honorary Citizens of Gomel oblast will be conferred on two eminent veterans.
According to the information given to BelTA in the press service of the oblast executive committee, the resolution on the status of Honorary Citizens of Gomel oblast was adopted last August. However, nobody has been bestowed with such an honour yet.
Town authorities put forward an offer to grant the status to bearer of the Order of Glory of First, Second and Third Classes Victor Vetoshkin and Hero of the Soviet Union Grigoriy Denisenko.
The two veterans will become the first Honorary Citizens of Gomel oblast due to their courage and heroism during the WWII as well as priceless contribution into the development of the region and patriotic upbringing of younger generations.
The press service specified that at the moment all necessary documents are being prepared to be adopted by local MPs in June.
