SvetlogorskKhimvolokno polyester yarns factory upgrade nearly over

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian chemical company OAO SvetlogorskKhimvolokno is about to complete the second phase of the project to raise the manufacturing capacity of its polyester textile yarns factory up to 38,500 tonnes per annum, the press service of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim told BelTA. BelTA has been told that guarantee tests of the new equipment are now in progress. The documents on putting the equipment into operation are supposed to be signed this month. The implementation of the large-scale program to retool the polyester textile yarns factory became possible thanks to the signing of a credit agreement between Belneftekhim and Japan Bank for International Cooperation in 2009. The bank lent Ґ3 billion (about $32 million) to OAO SvetlogorskKhimvolokno for the project. 2011 saw the completion of the first phase of the project, with 18 texturing machines and seven molding lines commissioned. The high-tech high-speed equipment enabled the company to improve the quality of the merchandise, reduce energy intensity and create the prerequisites to increase the factory’s manufacturing capacity by 16,500 tonnes to 38,500 tonnes of polyester textile yarns per annum. The second phase has allowed fully renewing the available equipment in the spinning department and the textile department of the factory, improving the manufacturing efficiency and securing the manufacturing of competitive products. Outdated equipment and technologies to make polyester textile yarns have been replaced. They had been in use for over 25 years and are unfit for making competitive products. The equipment has been supplied by the Japanese company Marubeni Corporation. The project’s implementation will also enable the company to start manufacturing new varieties of polyester textile yarns of different linear density. The company plans to sell the merchandise both home and abroad. Founded in 1964, the Svetlogorsk-based company OAO SvetlogorskKhimvolokno is one of the biggest companies of the Belarusian petrochemical industry. SvetlogorskKhimvolokno specializes in polyester textile yarns, polymeric and carbonic fibrous materials, the industrial thread Arselon, non-woven polypropylene materials SpunBel and AquaSpun. The company also makes polypropylene sacks, viscose cord fabric, and consumer goods, including fire-fighter suits, gear to protect fire-fighter hands, protective clothing. SvetlogorskKhimvolokno’s quality management system is certified for compliance with STB ISO 9001-2001. The company’s products have been certified for compliance with international ecological textile safety standard Oeko-Tex Standart 100. The certificate covers textile goods, fibers, and yarns used to make textiles and confirms the environmental safety of the merchandise. Modern technologies allow SvetlogorskKhimvolokno to make high-quality products sold in Belarus and over 40 countries across the globe. The company exports up to 70% of the output. Since September 2012 OAO SvetlogorskKhimvolokno has been a member of the European Disposables and Nonwovens Association (EDANA).
