SvetlogorskKhimvolokno’s output up 6% in 2011

SVETLOGORSK, 27 January (BelTA) – In 2011 SvetlogorskKhimvolokno increased its production by 6% in comparable prices as against 2010, acting Director General of the company Vasily Kostyukevich said at the meeting chaired by Belarus’ Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich on 27 January. The export grew almost 20%. The energy-efficiency program helped reduce power consumption by 17.6%. According to Vasily Kostyukevich, in 2006-2011 capital investment totaled Br832.5 billion. In line with the SvetlogorskKhimvolokno development program for 2006-2011 approved by the Council of Ministers, the company implemented 17 investment projects. The company increased the production of polyester thread 1.5 times, nonwoven fabric 4.1 times, polypropylene products 2.5 times. The company developed new polyester thread including for the needs of Belarusian processers. Production modernization considerably reduced depreciation of fixed assets from 66% in 2006 to 37.8% in 2011. The company has improved the quality of products and widened its lineup. In 2012, SvetlogorskKhimvolokno plans to increase the production by 10.6% and export $108 million worth of goods (up 13.5%). In turn, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said that in 2011 the company actively implemented its upgrade plans. Although SvetlogorskKhimvolokno manufactures competitive products, a number of economic indicators are poor. In this regard, the Prime Minister offered to consider possible solutions to these problems, including through organizational arrangements. He said that the meeting is attended by members of the government, representatives from various related sectors which allows for complex analysis of the situation in the chemical industry. “If we properly organize production and technological chains, schemas, we will receive significant benefits,” he said. Mikhail Myasnikovich also drew attention to the project to set up a bleached pulp unit in Svetlogorsk, which will be executed with the use of a Chinese loan. The Prime Minister visited SvetlogorskKhimvolokno to inaugurate a new production unit in the nonwoven materials shop.
