Systemic monitoring of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus

MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – The Belarus government has discussed the progress in aiding citizens of Ukraine in a difficult life situation, the government's press service told BelTA.

According to the source, the government monitors the presence of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus on a systemic basis. Relevant matters are dealt with in the regions on a weekly basis, with prompt decisions made. Every week information is collected about the current situation in the regions of Belarus.

In particular, since January 2014 Gomel Oblast has welcomed 9,368 citizens of Ukraine. As many as 4,561 people have applied for registration. As many as 871 people have requested aid in finding jobs, with 490 people employed. Education institutions have welcomed 392 school students and 162 preschool age children. Since 25 July as many as 1,277 people, including 905 people from Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast, have contacted healthcare institutions for medical exams needed for employment.

The Gomel Oblast branch of the Belarusian Red Cross Society does the necessary work, noted the source. As many as 580 people have contacted this organization. The organization received Br326.4 million via a charity action.

According to the press service, in the near future the Belarus government intends to hear out reports of other regions regarding the stay of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus.
