Three new schools open in Gomel oblast on the eve of Knowledge Day
On September 1 - the first day of the new school year, some 14.9 thousand children (600 children more as against last year) came to the schools of the Gomel oblast. All in all, 160 thousand students came to the schools of the oblast, BelTA learnt from head of the education department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Marina Bondar.
According to her, some 1360 young professors – graduates of pedagogical universities and colleges of the country have started their working career.
Three new schools have opened in the Gomel oblast on the eve of the Knowledge Day. The fifth stage of the Svetlogorsk secondary school with a swimming pool and a gym and also a school in the village of Khalch of the Vetka region are among them.
Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Yakobson also took part in the opening of the new secondary school which was constructed in line with a special project. The head of the region congratulated students on the Knowledge Day and wished them success in training.
In 2008, the budget of the Gomel oblast assigned Br42.5 billion for the education sphere.
