Twenty-eight countries to attend Gomel Economic Forum

GOMEL, 11 May (BelTA) – Attending the Gomel Economic Forum due on 18 May will be representatives of 28 countries, BelTA learnt from Oksana Korneenko, the chief of the science and investment department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. According to her, it is possible that more countries will apply to participate. “We expect around 400 guests, including delegations from Germany, France, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Turkey, and Vietnam. Traditionally, a delegation from the Russian Federation will be most representative. Foreign delegations will include representatives of business and finance, trade organizations, authorities. The ambassadors of Slovakia, Serbia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, representatives of the embassies of Finland, Latvia, Estonia confirmed their participation in the event. The forum provides a presentation of investment proposals and an exhibition of investment projects, business match-making sessions and exhibitions of enterprises of Gomel Oblast. Taking part in the plenary part will be representatives of government bodies, businesses that implement investment projects in the region. Investment contracts and letters of intent are expected to be signed. The forum will work in six sections: “Agriculture and processing industry”, “Construction and Production of Building Materials”, “Transport, logistics and trade”, “Alternative energy”, “Tourism and socio-economic development of the territories" and “Small business: improving support mechanisms”. In addition, the 13th international exhibition “Spring in Gomel-2012” will open on 16-19 May 2012. It will showcase a wide range of industrial products and consumer goods made in Gomel.
