UK Ambassador thanks Gomel for great organization of Gomel vs Liverpool tie
GOMEL, 16 August (BelTA) - The Gomel Oblast administration received an official letter of thanks from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Belarus Bruce Bucknell. The Ambassador thanks the town authorities for the great organization of the Gomel vs Liverpool football match, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
On 2 August the diplomat visited Gomel Oblast and expressed gratitude to the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee for the interesting meeting and the overview on the region’s economic potential. “I also want to thank you for organizing the program of the visit,” the letter reads.
FC Gomel, Belarus, lost to FC Liverpool, England, 0:1 in the Europa League third qualifying round first leg match on 2 August. However, all football experts agreed that Gomel played exceptionally well that night. Bruce Bucknell also attended the match at the Tsentralny stadium in Gomel. “It enjoyed the match thoroughly,” the Ambassador said.
