Valeriy Selitskiy elected chairman of Gomel oblast council of deputies
On February 12, Valeriy Selitskiy, who used to head the oblast council of deputies of the 24th convocation, was elected chairman the Gomel oblast council of deputies of the 25th convocation.
Social and economic programs will remain central to the agenda of the council of deputies of the 25th convocation, Valeriy Selitskiy told BelTA.
The oblast council of deputies will change its work with the councils of lower levels in a bid to encourage them to improve their work especially in addressing the needs of the population, Valeriy Selitskiy noted. There are several problems in this field, which have to be resolved. In particular, all the problems which the people address to the primary-level executive authorities should be settled. For this purpose, the financial opportunities of the local councils of deputies are being expanded.
