Village for physically handicapped orphans to be constructed in Gomel oblast in 2009
The construction of a village for physically handicapped orphans – the first one in the Gomel oblast - is expected to be finished in late 2009, Alexandra Bakaras, the head of the social support department of the committee for labour and social protection of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA.
The village has been constructing in the Novobelitsa district of Gomel for several years. Some 50 physically handicapped children will live in the village. Apart from comfortable living conditions, the children will have a health –rehabilitation centre.
The village is being constructed at the expense of an Austrian charity organization. The cost of the project is ?2 million. More than ?1 million has been already utilized (more than 70% of building and construction works).
