Violations of fishing regulations down by one third in Gomel region

The number of violations of fishing regulations dropped by one third in Gomel region. Chief state inspector of the Gomel region fauna and flora protection inspection Yelena Murzina told BelTA, over seven months of the year they drew 875 reports following violations of the fishing rules, with the number of grave violations exceeding 370. The inspection seized over 4,000 networks and 400 other forbidden fishing tools. The volume of fines exceeded Br224 million. The specialist pointed out the falling number of such crimes. In comparison with the respective period of last year the number of such crimes shrank by 30 per cent. Yelena Murzina put down the improvement to larger fines and more active criminal prosecution used against poachers. This year the region's law enforcement bodies instituted legal proceedings against 15 violations of the fishing regulations.
