Young Belarusian singers win 16 awards at Transcarpathian Edelweiss 2009 Festival
GOMEL, April 7 (BelTA) – Young Belarusian singers won 16 various awards at the International Transcarpathian Edelweiss 2009 Festival-Contest which has been held in Ukraine, BelTA learnt from the culture department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
Taking part in the festival were more than 200 young singers and bands from six countries – Belarus, Hungary, Russia, Romania, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. Belarus was represented by 27 students of art centres and music colleges of the Gomel and Grodno oblasts.
Alexandra Stepantsova (the Rechitsa art centre) received the Grand Prix in the soloists-vocalists nomination, Denis Lobachev (the Svetlogorsk art school) and the Subito Band (the Smorgon art school) were awarded the Grand Prix in the soloists-instrumentalists nomination. At the festival, students from Gomel, Svetlogorsk, Rechitsa, Kalinkovichi, Mozyr and Rogachev received 8 first prizes and 5 second prizes.
The participation in the festival was sponsored by the local authorities.
